No Laughing Matter

is a short film - seven minutes - written and directed by Flloyd Kennedy.
No Laughing Matter is due to be shot in July, with the assistance of the International Film College, Southport).

Thanks to the generous support of the International Film College, Southport, Qld, it is due to be shot on location just outside of Brisbane, Qld, at the end of June 2009. After a lifetime of working in live theatre, this will be my first experience of directing film, and I am delighted that so many talented creatives have responded so positively to my script, and volunteered their services to collaborate on its creation.

The film follows the journey of a young girl and her faithful (and very bright) dog Jupiter, as she sets out to discover the truth behind one of life's great mysteries. It's very funny, and also very thought-provoking. You may find brain cells working together which may have not seem much action for quite some time...

No Laughing Matter involves the integration of live action (real walking and talking actors) with animation (the animals). This process is still relatively experimental, in spite of the fact that it has been around for some time. For example, remember Gene Kelly dancing with 'Jerry' Mouse in the film Anchors Aweigh (made in 1945!)?

It is our intention to enter
No Laughing Matter into the TropFest film competition next year, and then to send it off to festivals round the world.

So, we still need to raise enough money to pay for the production and animation processes. If you would like to contribute, any amount from $1 would be most gratefully put to very good use, and will find your name up on the screen when the credits roll (unless you wish to remain anonymous).

You can use the
